Mining Sector Report - Key Findings

• Only 1 company recorded a negative TSR figure over both 1 and 3 years, this was UK Coal. • 3 Companies recorded Upper Quartile TSR results for both 1 and 3 years. • 2 of these 3 companies, namely Anglesey and Anglo-Pacific came out as negative figures in the Meis Pay Indicator Model, although they were the 3 companies to achieve Upper Quartile TSR performance over 1 and 3 years. • Max bonus median for the FTSE 100 was 125%, but rose to 163% for the FTSE 250. • CEO base pay is quite erratic, with 4% of CEO’s receiving under £100,000, 31% receiving between £300,000 and £400,000 and 31% receiving £600,000 and over. • FD’s base pay was fairly spread out, with 39% receiving between £200,000 & £300,000, 11% receiving between £400,000 and £500,000 and 22% receiving more than £600,000. • Option Schemes are the most common type of share plan for the sector. • 32% of companies in this sector do not disclose or do not have remuneration advisors. 18% of companies use Kepler.
